Connecting the Gap is a federally recognized 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that supports youth and young adults grieving the death of a parent. We provide holistic, individualized care to help them process their grief and build a healthy, hopeful future. By creating intentional, personalized connections, we empower children and families to maintain stability at home, in school, and in their communities during one of the most difficult times in their lives.
Our work is guided by three core pillars that reflect our commitment to whole-person care: Mental Health, providing access to counseling and peer support to nurture emotional wellbeing; Economic Empowerment, offering financial assistance and education to ease the burdens that often accompany loss; and Relational Support, building strong community connections that foster trust, belonging, and long-term healing. During this process, we develop individualized plans to best support each participant and their caregiver. With the help of community partners, we surround families with a network of resources designed to sustain them through school and as they transition into life after graduation.
